LBD construction- Toile

I then started working on my sleeves. I started by pinning and stitching the sides creating a pair then pressing the seams to the back to create my basic sleeve (image 1)

I then started putting elastic in the bottom of the sleeve where I had curved the pattern. After numerous attempts I only managed to get one sleeve complete due to the curve in the sleeve being too steep. Even though this was not a complete success I now know I will need to alter this on my pattern for my final garment.

I tried folding the fabric over to create a tunnel for the elastic initially as this worked for the first sleeve (image 2 and 3). After this didn’t work I then tried stitch the elastic straight onto the fabric which also didn’t work (image 4). I decided to leave the sleeves on my toile as I now needed to alter my pattern by reducing the curve on the sleeve, which would then allow me to get the sleeve in easier as it was very difficult and resulted in the elastic not being able to get into the sleeve (image 4).
