I pinned my pattern pieces to my final fabric (chiffon and polyester crepe). It was very difficult to pin and cut out the chiffon (image 1), I struggled a lot with this as the chiffon just moved around, I taped the chiffon down to try and get the neatest pattern pieces, but in comparison to my polyester crepe pieces they were still not as neat.
I then needed to mount my chiffon only the polyester crepe. I started by pinning it a lot because of the chiffon sliding around (image 2). I then edge stitched around all of my patter pieces. This was one of the most difficult parts in making my dress. It was really difficult to get the chiffon to not move around and to sew a neat edge stitch.
After mounting all of the pieces together I then began constructing my garment, I pinned my shoulders together, stitched them with 1cm seam allowance and pressed them to the back. I know there is a weak point at the neckline therefore I decided to use a satin binding to strengthen it. I firstly pressed the strip of binding in half (image 3), I struggles to get this exactly in half and it took a few attempts to get it perfect. I then stitched the binding over the neckline (image 4). I think this really created a professional neat neckline. I then overlocked the edges and put my bodice onto the mannequin to see what my neckline would look like (image 5).
