“Demonstrate understanding of the role of digital applications within the fashion industry”
Digital applications are becoming more necessary in the fashion industry with the constant changing technology and trends. The ease of using programs such as Adobe illustrator and Adobe Photoshop is constantly improving. It is a necessity for someone working in the fashion industry to have an up to date knowledge of current digital applications, and even upcoming applications that could once again dramatically change the way the fashion industry works. It allows designers to create quick, precise designs which can be altered with the click of a button rather than having to re-draw every design from scratch. The quality of the work is instantly improved due to the ability to be painstakingly specific on the programs that are now available. Not just the production of the work is improved - the ability to be able to design on a computer allows the communication of fashion industry to have changed phenomenally. There is no longer a need to laboriously package and post designs to far-off colleagues, as a simple email can be sent to numerous places across the world with negligible effort. Due to these extreme changes it is almost creating a new generation of designer who has the ability to use these programs and continue to develop the industry with the constantly growing pool of available technological applications.
The promotion side of the fashion industry is also very impacted by the advancing digital applications. The ever-growing social networking sites and blogging allows free publicity for many areas fashion industry.
Considering the drastic rate in which digital applications are popularising and expanding I predict before long nearly everything involved in the fashion industry will be done with digital applications due to the huge benefits it gives the industry. Although there are still some small positives to not using digital applications throughout the fashion industry the pros of digital application completely out way the cons.
