Diary entry 11.01.11

During tuesdays lesson i completed my final design and began working on pattern cutting for my steampunk shirt. I have never done pattern cutting before therefore found it quite difficult to start with. I started by creating a basic block plan allowing me to refer back to if something went wrong. I started with the bodice block creating panels in it and seam allowence. I then began working on the back which didnt need much altering as I wanted quite a basic shape. I measured down the back of my shirt where the slit would be placed and made a marking on my pattern piece. I then added seam allowence. By the end of the day i started to understand pattern cutting more and why i was doing things.
