I began working on the details section of my garments. I started by having a close up of my belt to so that the detailing was shown.
I then began putting some lines on the garments. I think I need to label them to create a more detailed overall look.
I began my second dress by drawing the outline. I liked the overall shape of the dress. I think although the concept of the dress is the same for all of my designs I think this created a different take to the first one although still has some quite similar features. I am not fully happy with the bottom of the dress so I am going to continue to experiment with that later on
I was unhappy with the waist as it wasn’t a smooth as the rest of the dress; I decided to leave it for the moment to see whether or not I would be putting a belt on the waist which would change the overall appearance of it, or whether I would need to re draw the design.
I decided to re draw the design because I wanted to create a more obviously different design to create a more dynamic selection of spec drawings. I played around with different lines on the design to see what kind of looks I could create. I like this first design. I think it achieves the look I wanted and technically I have achieved an interesting design.
I wasn’t as happy with this idea and design. By experimenting I was able to discover the kind of look I liked for my design. I think this design looks wrong and doesn’t work for the look I wanted to create. I like the use of the gather lines in the sleeve I think this works well and follows the theme and look I am trying to achieve for my spec drawings.
I then began adding in detail and components to the dress:
I added darts into the bodice to show the contrast between the fitted bodice and flowing gathered sleeves and skirt.
I also added a belt which I am still unsure about at the moment as I think I would rather have the belt attached to the metal structure.
I then added buttons and stitch lines to the cuffs on the sleeves. I liked the buttons on the cuff I think it works well and will complement the back of the dress well.
I added in some different strokes onto the skirt to create the gathered look that I wanted.
I then added a double stitch line using the dash line tool to represent the hem on the skirt.
